Coaching is a co-creative relationship, a partnership (between client and coach). A coach’s ability to deeply listen and respond to a client is different than advising them or fixing them as in a consulting or therapy scenario.
The value of a coach is their ability to keep you, as the client, front-and-center, with their ability to listen well, probe with appropriate questions and offer positive encouragement so together (client and coach) you will uncover thoughts and ideas that allow you, the client, insight into what actions to take next toward your larger goals (often a personal and/or professional transition, realization or tactic to try out). From that point the coach will help keep the client accountable for their next actions toward their objectives while building on previous progress with additional dialog to identify further goal-oriented actions. The idea is that with the help of the coach the client will reach their desired goals quickly, confidently and effectively. Posted By: Nick Venturella Comments are closed.
