Are you losing sales because of no digital marketing?

9/26/2011

I recently read the blog post, Your small business has no digital presence? Time to get help, by Michele Rempel.  It offered some great statistics from a Hiscox online insurance company survey about the use of social media by small business owners.  The result was nearly half (47%) of small businesses were not utilizing any social media channels to market their products and services.

The article goes on to tout these statistics about the way consumers use and interact with social media:
  • 70% of Americans now say they look at product reviews before making a purchase
  • 79% of consumers say they use a smartphone to help with shopping
  • 83% of moms say they do online research after seeing TV commercials for products that interest them (according to Google in their recent ebook Winning at the Zero Moment of Truth by Jim Lecinski)
Let’s say only 10% of the above smartphone statistic would have bought something from you had you had a digital marketing strategy that could have marketed to them on their smartphones.  What would it mean to your business to have 10% more sales in a given month, or year?

Are you losing sales because of no digital marketing strategy?
