Recently, Inc. Magazine published an online article, 11 Reasons a 23-Year-Old Shouldn't Run Your Social Media. Essentially the article cautioned against a young person, who may not have a lot of knowledge and experience regarding your brand running your social media even though they likely have the technical know-how to easily navigate and understand how social media platforms work.
I'm not necessarily in agreement that you shouldn't have a young person running your social media, but you should definitely trust who ever is running it with your brand (the article ends up making this point as well).
